Brought back happy memories reading this.
In September 2002, long before I was Amateur Radio licensed, I did ‘Mt. Whitney in a day’ from Whitney Portal. Then the next day drove to Death Valley and Badwater. Thus visiting the highest and lowest points in the ‘lover 48’ in less than 24 hours. We also drove up to Dantes View.
It was September and 112F at Furnace Creek!
Truly spectacular lands.
Great stuff again. We visited Dante’s Peak in 2014.
Also, not quite Whitney, but we drive up White Mountain to 11,600 feet one day, then to badwater at -282 feet the next day. Also has the same temps in same month (as MW0WML)
