Will Half a Dual band flower pot work ?

Original antenna shown here FLOWER POT.

I am at present using a 2 meter 1/4 wave antenna ( homebrew made of spring wire) on a mag mount with a 3/8th thread antenna fitting for mobile operation on 2/70cm. This of course tunes up on 70cms but in a word is naff, so I have been looking for a simple design that would work on both bands. I have used the dual band flower pot in the past and could see it did work better on 70cms rather than a 2 meter dipole so my question is if I put half the phasing section over the 2 meter 1/4 wave would it have the same effect as on the dipole version ( being effectively half a dipole) ? I have no signal meter on the radio so it’s awkward for me to experiment and see if it works .Alternatively have you any ideas on a dual band antenna that could be fitted to the same mount ? If anything I would prefer it to work better on 70 cms rather than 2 meters and specifically wish to homebrew it !

Thanks all

I used this dual band FlowerPot couple years ago as my base antenna and it worked well. I could open repeaters up to 100km away and chase SOTA activators within the same range.

70cm part was for me not needed and I cut off pipe just before coil and use it now as wrap version for my SOTA activations. Works great on 5mtr mast and I am very happy with it.

I also made 2x5/8wl for2 mtr and this works great too however it needs 6-7mast to take full advantage. Antenna is just over 2.5mtr long
