I would like to be on this list. But not so sure if I would like to type all those QSOs into the Database!

I will have to do better if I am going to break into the Top 15. My best so far is 73 on Gun G/SP-013 in the Backpackers.

Analysis of my QSO totals, for amusement, is:

QSOs — No.of activations
70+) ----- 2
60 - 69) 10
50 - 59) 10
40 - 49) 10
30 - 39) 26

6) ------- 74
5) ------- 114
4) ------- 200
3) ------- 31
2) ------- 25

  1. ------- 19

Total activator QSOs by me in SOTA so far = 9300

Interesting to see that the distribution from 4 QSOs upwards can be modelled by Benford’s Law for naturally occurring numbers:

I sense a class project coming on…

In reply to M1EYP:

Think I’ll start a thread scheduling the longest travel time to a summit… it might give some of us on the fringes a chance to get our name in lights

As for 4) ------- 200 - didn’t you tell me you weren’t a smash and grab merchant!

…but 111 activations of 20 or more QSOs Gerald, and 297 of 10 or more…?

Actually, most of those 4 QSO activations took place either (a) in the early days of SOTA or (b) from a summit with poor VHF take-off (for a QRPer). In either case, it was often a struggle just to get the four!

In reply to M1EYP:

You know me Tom… the big wind up! Just doing what all good politicians and people plugged religion at your doorstep do - select bits and twist! Hi!

I did check my average a few weeks ago and it runs at around 18 per summit. I can blame all of my 4’s on my XYL and the 5’s and 6’s on the summits or prevailing weather conditions (invariably wet as is my preference… or so some would think), but on over 80% of summits I have made it into double figures which is my primary aim when on a summit. My maximum tally is the 80 contacts made from Cadair Berwyn NW-012 back in April 2006 in the Fun Day event.

One of these days I will go and sit on a summit for a whole day which should get me a decent entry in the table.

In reply to Z36M:

Dear Vlado!

Thanks for your maintaining this top-list! However let me suggest something that would make SOTA lists based on the same philosophy!
Whenever a certain number of contestant have equal scores in SOTA Activator and Chaser Honour Roll lists, they are marked as you also did (e.g. 11=), BUT the next ranked person gets the position equal to his actual position. That is one or more positions (depending on it, how many contestants have equal scores) are skipped! Supposing that you accept this philosophy, your toplist should look like this:

  1. Z35M … 257
  2. TK8B (op.F8BBL)… 203
  3. HA5CW … 177
  4. G1INK … 160
    =4. M0LKB … 160

postion 5 is skipped!

  1. S58SOTA(op.S57OPZ)… 148
  2. G6WRW … 147
  3. GX0OOO (op.G4YSS)… 143
  4. GT7OOO (op.G4OBK)… 139
  5. HA7UL … 136
  6. GW0PZO … 135
  7. DF2GN … 130
    =12. OK1FFU … 130

postion 13 is skipped!

  1. F6ENO … 120
  2. S53X … 119
  3. DH8DX … 118
  4. G6LKB … 114
  5. GW4EVX … 109
  6. G3NYY … 105
  7. F5UKL…101
  8. HA3HK … 96
  9. GW0DSP … 91
  10. G4OIG … 80
  11. M1EYP … 73
Up to you to decide, whether you do agree or not.

How about adding in the summit it happened on - and maybe the date?

For mine this is G/SP-013 6/9/09

I love a challenge

In reply to M1EYP:

Yes, Tom, this is the right attitude!

I have two shy friends here who keep telling that they do SOTA activation for the sake of enjoyment, not being ranked… Their last action (tour #28) was at 22nd November, 2009 on HA/KM-018. HA5MA Laci established 109, HA5LV Viktor 119 QSOs. Then, during a good pile-up, the last of the 3 pieces of 7Ah batteries they use also run down… :frowning:
Here you can find their report (unfortunately in Hungarian) but the map, photos and logs can be construed without knowing a single word as well: huszonnyolcadik .
