VK-EU S2S Party, Sunday 2 Oct

Proposed S2S and DX QSO party this coming Sunday morning (afternoon/evening VK time!).

Focus will be UK/EU to VK/ZL/JA S2S, but of course all activators and chasers are welcome to participate in the usual manner.

If you can take part, please consider posting an alert.

Your alert suggests that will be 0630 UTC on 20m. I could be up for that on CW if I can drag myself out of bed.

I’m in!

I’ll try and provide a new GM/ES summit. Weather depending though. It’s hosing with rain today.

Weather permitting. However, the weather report doesn’t give me high hopes. :disappointed:

Very wet here in Yorkshire too but the forecast for Sunday morning is ok.

Geomagnetic forecast for Sunday morning is for Kp of 5. Is that going to be a problem?

Possibly yes. It’s 3 today.

I only play the VK/ZL DX game when sfi >= 150 and k <3 :slightly_smiling_face:

Does that mean you are now out?

I would still go up if a few others were. It would be worth it for the summit to summits. Probably do something very local and quick to ascend in that case.

I’m up for this @M1EYP Tom, subject to wx! I’ll pop to a local summit for an hour or so!

I’ll try and get out for an hour, 05:30 UTC??

Parts of VK move to daylight savings on Sunday, bring on summer!

I have posted an alert for 0600 UTC. Edit: VK East Coast sunset is 0810 UTC.

Ok. Sounds good. I just need to decide if I want a 45 minute drive & 45 miinute hike up a forest track for a new one (1 point) or just climb Morven, which is on my doorstep, but steep, rough and 4 points for chasers but none for me…

I heard you calling the other morning from my home QTH Andrew on 20m. The odd word was coming through! I did try and call back but the band wasn’t fully open.

Fingers crossed for this Sunday :crossed_fingers:

I’m doing a 1 pointer, 10 minute drive from the house and a 5 minute steep climb to summit. A lazy Sunday summit I’ll nickname it! Be good to make a S2S - what antenna you thinking…. vertical or horizontal?

I use an elevated 1/4 wave GP with four sloping ground radials.

Will see if I can rustle up a summit although the weather here is looking pretty dismal.

If the path is there, you’ll manage with a di-pole. I’m going to take a vertical for the DX and my inverted V for local contacts, ie You!

I’m thinking of both as well. Hopefully we’ll make a S2S :+1:
