Finally after three attempts, I successfully activated Candland Mountain in an unusual way. Two years ago, I tried to make it to the summit by snowmobile but failed to find a route through the trees. Last winter I tried again on snowshoes but ran out of time in terrible snow conditions. Yesterday I used the time-proven, but perhaps not so common in our current time period to reach the summit by horseback. A very rewarding success yesterday. Thank you to the chasers.
A saddle mounted vertical antenna perhaps ?
In any case, well done !!

I like your style, well done.

Excellent! You should get a badge if you do five of those.
Richard G4ERP did an activation on horseback back in 2011 -

Well done Paul.
Persistence and adaptation paid off. Did you have to tow a horse float to the car park?

Yes Ron, the area is a great area for horseback travel in the mountains and there is a parking spot at the trail-head large enough to accommodate a truck and horse trailer. From my buddy’s horse farm to the trailhead is about 30 min drive. Horses used were a 4 year old half-draft, Appaloosa/Percheron and a 2 year old quarter horse stud colt.
Excellent Paul. I did a 4 day backpacking trip a couple weeks ago and did some SOTA. on my last day it was a very difficult hike out. I’d have paid hundreds of dollars for a horse ride out if it was available.
Did you use /EM (equestrian mobile) as a suffix instead of just /P ?
In all seriousness, congratulations, and I hope I’ll be able to do an activation like this as well.
Splendid reading and a pretty interesting activation. Grand job!
