Trans-Atlantic QSO Party - 5th November 2022 (Part 1)

As Adam already stated the chances are best on 15m, with 17m as fallback.

SP from OE to East coast US (50 W SSB)

SP from England to East coast US (50 W SSB)

Based on the results from past weekend CQ WW 10m SSB was actually open to North America around 16:00 UTC. So that matches quite good.

Concur: the forecast for my neck of the woods - about 60km SE of Ed DD5LP - is much the same, has not altered in ~3 days, and gives light rain until 13:00 local (12:00 UTC), thereafter overcast but no further rain. Should be a go for this event from here - Daume drücken!

Hi Rob,

This is created using VOACAP Online for Ham Radio

Adam has made a great video explaining the tool: VOACAP Propagation Prediction for Maximum DX #YTHF21 - YouTube

Just read the propagation forcast for Saturday… the MUF is supposed to reach 30 Mhz in the morning and will increase to 34 Mhz during the day… then falling back to 30 Mhz at 7pm…

So 10m should be working fine… see you on the band.

24 hours before I hope to be on my summit and 10m is full of US and Canadian stations SSB all at 59 or better (28.35-28.55 MHz) !

Unfortunately - this is the view from the webcam up there:

This was absolutely clear ground yesterday at this time …

@DD5LP , here in Flagstaff, Arizona it was also clear yesterday…a light snow at 7,000 feet so it’s looking like the cold weather gear will be necessary for our activations tomorrow morning here as well!

Here’s the current temperature (F) in my back yard at 1530 UTC:

Hoping to catch some of you all S2S, especially on ten meters!

Interesting… we had a big storm on Wednesday, lots of wind and rain. Thursday was glorious, gentle breeze and bright blue skies. It was warm in the sun. But by 4pm when I walked the dog it was cold. I woke up this morning and everything was white with a significant amount of frost… the 1st frost of Autumn 2022. It’s bright blue skies now and getting colder again.

Winter is coming. Unless you’re upside down when Summer is coming

Raining somewhat here now but the forecast is for it to stop by 1300Z. Depending how the rain progresses I should be up GM/SS-125 for 1400Z. I’ve done this one plenty of times this but will be coming down in the dusk if not darkness. Headtorch and handtorch both charged.

DXHeat showing lots of activity on 10m (and 12m)

Yesterday from G/TW-001 I worked Jamaica, Brazil, USA NC, Ukraine, Russia, Portugal and Northern Ireland on 10 metres using a dipole and 30 W so hopefully conditions will be good again today.

It was obviously long skip yesterday as I listened for you but heard nothing (except the chasers).

I wonder how radio waves do, going through clouds? - I’ll find out in a couple of hours I think:

73 Nick and good luck to all.

I’m out.

Not because of the weather. Not because of the football. But because of a last minute gig with an Abba show in Peterborough.

SOTA, nonetheless, remains “The Name of the Game” for me so I’ll take the handie for a swift activation or two en route.
