The asking chasers: ? and SOTA?

Hi Guru,

During QSO with somebody :frowning:
Today also one time.
I am in SOTA tour right now, may be I have more chances to copy this question mark …

OK, Jarek,
I’ve copied a questionmark today too, but it was a spotted frequency totally empty and not right after the spot had appeared on SOTAwatch, but after some time and there was no activity by either activator or chasers, so no harm at all on that questionmark.

I’m sure I’ve seen submarines using lights. But I think I’d be more concerned if they were submerged at the time. :joy:

These great point apply to all modes.
I find it problematic when someone is in a QSO and an operator tries to jump the que then spend two minutes trying to verify the Call and the summit designator.
Two ears, one mouth. Listen more than you talk.

Thank you ! I will 100% be sending slowly just ti make it easier on myself and will control the situation. I look forward to getting the first activation done so the nerves calm a bit.

QRX5 pse while I look that up :grinning:

I have caused this a few times when activating. After finding an open frequency, I post a spot, and drop my pen or log in the snow or rocks and it takes a minute to dig it out.
Occasionally, I have good cell coverage to post a spot, then when sitting down into position behind a large boulder for wind break, I lose signal. So I have to get up and find the signal again. After posting the spot, I have to maneuver back to my position, don the headphones, grab the log and pen. By then, someone is calling “Are you there?”
I regret the delay, and am grateful for the patience.
Oh, and sometimes, I just need a sip of beer…
