The day after G/np-023 Aye Gill Pike (just!) I popped into Grassington to upgrade my aerial pole/support. For the wholesome price of 2.89 I came away from the hardware shop armed with a 9 ft flower support and some bamboo canes. Later s upplemented by a decent length of hazel cut from the road side. A try out at the caravan looked like it would work so on the Friday (11/07/2025) I set off up Whernside G/NP-004 from Ribblehead. I met few folk going up at 10am but no one took much notice of me walking up the hill armed with a 9ft green pole, a length of hazel and a handful of garden canes, one of which I’d glued an eye ring into the end to enable me to suspend my dipole antenna from… 
I made the top 1’ 40" later and hiding from prying eyes behind a wall I made my antenna support. 1hr 40 minutes later I got:-

When I got home that evening an email was waiting from SV8ANW/Dimitris(‘JIM’ on CW). He’d sent me a short video of our QSO. I know some of you may have recorded your activations or had videos sent to you, but for me this was a completely unique experience listening to me from the other operators end. He’d given me rst 429, It stops after a couple of minutes, when another station sent his call a couple of times causing a little QRM, but he probably couldn’t hear us working.
Anyway It beats watching tennis on the TV for me
