SP59GURU - commemorative activity of EA2IF

During this week I activated three summits.

SP/BZ-069 - prompt afternoon-evening activation with 16 QSOs logged including 1 DX

SP/BZ-014 - activation together with Łukasz @SQ9JTR with 45 QSOs logged including 4 S2S

Activation of today was longer but before present you the result I would like to express my many many thanks to all chasers who said during QSOs nice words about GURU.
It was from Spain of course but from USA as well.

This double confirmed my belief that the most important in SOTA are Friends.

Activation was on SP/BZ-020

137 QSOs logged, 11 S2S, 20 DX - the map is below

Thanks for doing this Jarek.
I have seen you spotted on 10m a few times over the last two weeks but unfortunately could not hear you (skip distance on 10m too long I think).
My “guestimate” from here is 750 miles skip radius

NEWS: renewal of special Call EG59GURU

We used this call early this year in January.
We requested to get it reactivated again for March, and it’s done!

From March 9 to 24th, WX permitting, you could listen to EG59GURU.

  • If it ends with /P (EG59GURU/P), that will be in a SOTA reference, from different regions in EA.
  • If you just listen to EG59GURU, it will be a chaser from a fixed QTH.

The QSO will be uploaded to the Sota Database and any activation will also be listed in the web:

Tnx you all!!

On March 11 Guru EA2IF became SK
SP59GURU today was on air for the final.

Very special event = surprise was made by Ignacio @EA2BD who activated EA2/NV-119 and we completed S2S QSO in the afternoon.

EA2/NV-119 is the special summit because Guru EA2IF activated it many times.
So this S2S was very important tribute for him.

I activated three summits today.

SP/BZ-043

SP/TA-016 - the trail was absolutely not supporting today

For activation I found convenient place in AZ

SP/BZ-057

Many thanks for S2S completing calls also from
Bruno @HB9CBR
Marcel @HB9TWM
Jim @KK0U

In total today 184 contacts logged, map is below:

In total in whole log of SP59GURU is more than 1 thousand contacts - I will print here detail information later.

SP59GURU is QRT now but EG59GURU still continue activity.

Stay tuned :exclamation:

Jarek,

Thanks for the DX S2S QSO today – those are always a treat! Also, thanks for the tribute to Guru, and for ‘activating’ his memory!

Also, we were KX2 to KX2 for our QSO yesterday.

Jarek, your work to make a tribute to Guru is much appreciated; thanks a lot for your kind support and all the effort these past activations.

Here in EA weather has been bad the weekend and today (11-Mar) I just saw a slightly improved weather forecast for a part of the afternoon.
I activated EA2/NV-119, as EG59GURU/P, a summit frequently visited by Guru, close to 100th times!

There was a bit of rain but managed, say okay, under my umbrella.

  • Gear: KX-3 + 5 m long EFHW for 28 MHz.
  • For lower bands I added 4 radials on ground and ZM-2 tuner.

I ran on 10-15-20m CW & SSB. First QSO was S2S with KK0U, Jim, and logged 16 NA in total. I closed my log with 57 qso.

I was very happy to find SP59GURU on freq and that S2S was very special too!

Next days you’ll find some more activations of EG59GURU/P from some friends.

Thanks all, 73

Ignacio

Hi Friends,

Printing procedure is longer than I expected.
They need a certain number of orders to run the machine.

I will keep you updated in due course.
