SOTA in England

Sure that an antibody test is now available here, but there are doubts amongst some scientists that you can catch it multiple times. A danger of doing antibody tests is those who are confirmed as having had the virus will want freedom and may then unite for that freedom and start a campaign of civil disobedience, like we have seen happening in other parts of the world.

The evidence so far is that reports of those who have recovered being retested and testing positive are due to the lungs clearing out residues of the infection.

So one imagines that this residue is likely to still be infectious :face_vomiting:

From what I’ve read, it is believed that dead virus particles (wrong words probably) are found in the blood and recognised by the antigen test, producing a false positive result, when the patient is actually no longer infected and not infectious.

Let’s hope so, as that would be encouraging news.

You’re not the only one who thinks it was around before. There was similar ‘bug’ going around before xmas and my step daughter had an extremely bad cough for several weeks + a high temperature. She lives with us but neither myself nor Mrs P didn’t get what she, and several of my friends had had it too. Who knows?

I certainly won’t be going to the Dales nor the Lakes soon. It just doesn’t feel quite right when there are so many there who don’t necessarily want visitors ‘swanning’ around. And as I;ve said before nor do the people of Bay - its was also on the local news that Whitby & Scarborough will NOT be opening any car parks, toilets or other facilities until further notice. I;'ve not heard any plans announced by our NYMNP authority so far. From our house we can see one car park owned by the 'park, which is frequently used by campervans. It’ll be interesting to see when the first campervan turns up for the night!

Ironically, I’ve just packed my tent away. I had another go at tempting Mrs PJZ to try camping in the back garden the other week. Much more successful than my last attempt (which included a large black Labrador). However, it looks as though camping will remain a solo activity for me.

I move my van around in the drive occasionally. It seems that I could take it out for the day (from tomorrow) but overnighting would not be allowed. I will wait to see what happens before I do venture off the drive. This is the longest it has been unused by a very wide margin.

OK Richard. My car hasn’t been further than one trip to the small supermarket half a mile away in our little town for over 7 weeks. I’m driving to Scarborough though on Thursday afternoon to collect a big click and collect order from the Morisson’s there. Should last the three of us and the dog two weeks at least with help from the freezer. The C&C service wasn’t available at the Morissons store that is 8 miles away rather than 18 miles. We got two big orders delivered by them from Darlington 52 miles away, but a third one was not forthcoming, “no slots available” so settled for going for it myself and taking the risk.

73 hope you can get out at least for a day run - sound like that is perfectly acceptable with your own family group and you stay away from others.

But the LDNPA don’t want any visitors.

Even if they walk around ringing a bell and shouting “unclean”!

Not to make light of the situation but perhaps to lighten the conversation here up a little…

Those of you who watched Boris’s speech live, with subtitles (he’s a southerner, I need them to understand what he is saying …) did anyone else spot this goof-up by the person doing the subtitles:

That should have been “more sharing” NOT “more sherry” !!!

I don’t like leaving my car on the drive for weeks on end and I don’t want to clog up the particulate filter so I click and collect at Morrisons in Killingworth driving along the A1 and the A19 as a ring road route. Their click and collect is contactless and they have improved availability to the extent that I can even at this hour book a slot for any time tomorrow from mid-day. Other supermarkets zilch for weeks.

Totally unrelated to the thread but my brother and his family live in Killingworth! My sister in law actually worked in Morrisons for over 20 years, just retiring last year! A small world…
