Thank you for sharing your reports and photos. Congratulations to Sabina for reaching Mountain Goat status earlier this year! I enjoyed watching the video of the news report (even if I could not understand the audio) :slight_smile:

I rarely can even hear European activators from here in Washington state, but I do hope some day to make a contact with you.

I am announcing possible SOTA activation from very rare SOTA region: Sicily island.

“THE COSA NOSTRA - SOTA” EXPEDITION :slight_smile:

I will be on Sicily island from 28th of April to 3rd of May 2014. Most likely QRV date will be 30th April 2014. My ham equipment will be: Yaesu FT-817ND, LDG Z817 ATU, the antenna will be Buddistick vertical and two 2200mAh 11,1V LiPo accus. I will try to work 7MHz and up (14, 18, 21, 28MHz) SSB and maybe some CW. My callsign will be IT9/S57D/P. I will try to post the exact data for the SOTA activation on the SOTAwatch (this depends on the WiFi access). See you on the air! Spots will be most welcome :slight_smile:

First SOTA activation of Monte Soro I/SI-301, 1847m a.s.l., Sicily island.

I had very bad propagations and I made only 41 QSOs on 14, 21 and 28MHz. 7MHz band was dead, no QSOs after half hour of calling. ODX station worked was 5R8UI from Madagascar island. I heard also Lesotho 7P8YY, Uruguay and Brazil, but NIL QSOs with my 5W FT-817ND and Buddistick antenna.

Aftermath: 41 QSOs, 3 ham bands (14, 21, 28MHz), 16 DXCCs (OE, EA, PA, SP, DL, G, HB9, OZ, SV, S5, IZ, ON, F, GW, EI, 5R8). Thank you for the QSOs and spots.

I hope I will work you on my next SOTA activation. Sabina S57BNX was at home, on the trip there were with me my daughter Nika and my twin brother Veljko S56BET. We had a very good time and we saw a lot of interesting places.
