Poll: Which Came First For You: Radio or Mountaineering?

I have already reflected on the topic of my interest in radio and mountains. In addition to the positive influence of my mother, I remembered one very old event that had a great influence on my interest in mountains and hiking. In 1973, the Tourism and Recreation in the USA exhibition was held in my city of Ufa with great success. This was the first exhibition from the USA, which took place thanks to the easing of international tensions during the Nixon presidency. The exhibition was held in a large, newly built pavilion and it was necessary to stand in a long line to enter it. Each visitor to the exhibition was given a colorful magazine and a badge as a souvenir, which I still keep as a souvenir. The exhibits of the exhibition - modern tourism equipment, photographs and films made a huge impression on all visitors, especially boys my age. Recently I found an amateur black and white film on YouTube about visiting this exhibition in Ufa. One of the boys in the film frames, perhaps, was me!

Interesting influence Marat, thanks for posting. That’s a classic Kelty external frame pack at 00:47. My mountaineering mentor had one just like that. We used the rods that held the pack bag to the frame to barbeque Cornish Game Hens over our campfires. I have another friend that collects that model from garage sales and has a half dozen or so. He still uses his for backpacking.
