You may have noticed a new special OE callsign OE20SOTA being on air since May1!
This is to celebrate 20 years of SOTA in Austria. The callsign will be around from May 1 to October 31, 2024 - so plenty of opportunity to work the activators on various summits using this callsign. We will issue a special QSL card for every contact made.
A corresponding award will also be eligible to those making 20 contacts with OE20SOTA.
EDIT: To clarify things: one contact with OE20SOTA on a particular (unique) summit will count once per day. However, there might also be the chance to contact OE20SOTA on several summits on the same day, which would of course then count individually.
Only eight OE20 awards issued so far … i’m sure there are a lot of chasers already qualifying for the award. The special callsign will be QRV until the end of October 2024.
To check if you also qualify for the award (or how many QSO’s with OE20SOTA you still need) visit the following site: SOTA-Diplome
We are rapidly heading towards the end of OE20SOTA … our special call celebrating 20 years of SOTA in Austria will only be on air until the 31st of October.
To apply for the award you need to log 20 contacts with OE20SOTA … we only issued 10 awards so far. But I’m sure there are more chasers qualifying for the award.
To check if you are one of the lucky ones to be able to apply for the award (or how many QSO’s with OE20SOTA you still need) visit the following site: SOTA-Diplome
Our special call OE20SOTA has been on the air for the last 6 months to celebrate 20 years of SOTA in Austria. For me it was great fun to operate OE20SOTA, I tried to bring the special callsign on-air as often and work as many stations as possible. I’m sure that @OE5JFE will publish statistics about OE20SOTA here soon (we still need to collect all the QSO data from the different activators) …
To receive an award you had to make 20 QSO with the special callsign and upload it to your chaser log in the SOTA database. So far we issued 14 awards, but I’m sure there are more chasers that qualify to get the award … simply CLICK HERE to check if you can apply for the award.
We will also send a QSL card to every chaser in the log … but that will take some time.
Thanks for you interest in the special callsign and for every single contact you made with OE20SOTA.
Ein Dankeschön an den fleissigen Martin für die tollen Diplome - bin ja immer wieder mal selber aus OE QRV und höre umgekehrt auch gerne hin, wenn ihr da auf eure Berge und Gupfe steigt.
Still missing the adif from one person that did not manage to submit after 3 month …
But some facts will not change even with a logfile missing:
More than 4000 QSO in the logs
31 Operators were bringing the call on-air
Martin OE5REO was the top operator with 1432 QSO made
Most QSO on SSB followed by FM and CW
From 80m band up to 3cm (QO-100 Sat) worked
Will share more when available.
Noted.
I am checking as good as possible (via QRZ lookup and so on) for people that don’t want bureau QSL cards but if some cards are not delivered it is no big deal.
Maybe we will upload to LOTW too. Let’s see.
Now that I got all logs processed here a bit more statistics:
32 operators brought OE20SOTA/p on Air from 1. May until 31th of October
A total of 134 activations from 119 different summits were done
A total of 4171 QSO to 55 DXCC entities were logged
Out of them 499 QSO were Summit to Summit contacts
Most active operator by far was Martin OE5REO
Most popular band was 40m closely followed by 20m and 2m
10m also played very well for DX due to good solar conditions and the 2024 SOTA Challenge
Most popular mode was SSB followed by FM and CW
1286 Unique chasers made contact and according to the activator logs 34 chasers managed to get the required 20 QSO (counted like chaser points once per day and summit) for the Award Diploma. Congratulations
for most logged QSO with OE20SOTA/P goes to Helmut @OE5WHR with 70 QSO
Remarkable activities included an activation by the OE5 youth group using QO-100 on OE/OO-330
