Noobie says hello

Hey now, I’ve been a ham for 4 months now (12/21), got my general class in February 2022.

Did my first official SOTA today (W6/CT158). I have sooo much to learn (including navigating this website  ) and look forward to having fun doing it. Being in SoCal there are many summits to explore.

Thanks to all that have brought inspiration into my life.

My rig is the Yaesu 891 with a LDG Z11 Pro II tuner, using the Wolf River Coil-TIA (primary) or the Outback 2000 (backup) for HF fieldwork.

I’ve been a ham now for 13 years now and I still feel like a newbie, especially with all this SOTA stuff, so you’re not the only one who still has to learn a lot. But it is fun, isn’t it? You got some nice vistas over there in SoCal and I hope we can have a S2S over the pond one day. 73 from Taiwan. --Hans

Welcome to SOTA Kevin, be aware there is only one known cure for the SOTA bug and that’s more SOTA

Good luck with your future activations.

Welcome to the family Kev !

You will find a great bunch of folks in here and they are always helpful and encouraging to say the least.

I hope to get you in the log some day. Happy and safe hiking.
