New years eve overnight

For the last few years i have tried to do an overnight summit camp on new years eve. The closest i got was Cross Fell A night on Cross Fell (G/NP-001) which i had to abandon due to worsening weather, and ended up on a bothy below the summit

Tonight i had planned to camp on Seatallan, but the firecast has gradually deteriorated and is now showing, at 3am, gusts over 45mph with significant snow.

I intend to activate Seatallan later this afternoon and instead camp a bit lower down, so may activate again on new years day

I will have a Quansheng with me, setup for 2m CW. so interested in anyone who can listen out…will also do 2m FM

Tonight will be my 30th night wild camping this year, my goal for the year was to spend at least 28 nights out camping.

I had a good couple 9f nights camping on the weekend before Christmas, but again did not manage my plan of camping on Old Man of Coniston. Each time I have tried Coniston Old man the weather has prevented a summit camp

Happy new year

Matthew,

I’ve often thought about activating Cross fell on New Years Eve then staying the night in Gregs Hut and going up again in the morning.

Or: - Starting the activation at, say 2300 and continuing until say 0030 the next day, then dropping down to spend the remainder of the evening in the Hut.

The flesh has always been willing but I’ve never worked up the ….. ??? motivation/enthusiasm (?) to actually do it.

One day…………………………………………………!

ps = can’t do 2m CW afraid. Anyway I’d not hear you from Robin Hood’s bay - Good luck and a happy new year..

It’s not the point. You used the band. That’s better than silence. :+1:

Are you heading back to 2m / FM ?

Matthew, I tried calling you on 144.050 both on a vertical white stick and a horizontal beam, just on the off chance

It looks as if I never stood much chance.

Although Richard might well stand a chance on Rombalds Moor G/NP-028.
