Congratulations to Mark M0NOM on gaining Mountain Goat status.
It happened yesterday on High Stile G/LD-012 where he nailed the 1000 points exactly with this 8 point summit. Well done Mark.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. 28th December 2016 was my first activation, Red Screes G/LD-017 following a group of lasses (one of whom had been an army radio operator) into the cloud and snow with absolutely no idea what I was doing. Iād lived in the Lakes for 15 years at that point and not really been up any large hills, being more of a (push) biker than a hiker. What a world to open up! I also discovered the symptoms of hypothermia that day, but what a buzz from a radio that finally had contacts!
Chaser shout outs (where would be be without them!): Geoff @GM4WHA for being such an absolute legend of a chaser - case in point heād gone mobile from work to catch me on 40m yesterday. Douggie @G7CDA and Sue @G1OHH also need a mention for their dedication and help early on, and more recently David G6AEK, Dave @G6LKB and Manuel @EA2DT on HF.
Also big thanks to Phil @G4OBK for his excellent blog on all things Lake District (and beyond) - the man with the majestic fist.
Iād like, if I may, to dedicate my goat to Rob Hannan @G4RQJ who sadly was silent key earlier this year. He was a member of the FARS radio club and very encouraging of my early SOTA activity and, together with his lovely wife, genuinely an inspiration. Also remembering Guru who was such a brief but wonderful friend at this time.
My plan now is to complete the LD SOTA summits, together with some of the LD summits that have avoided my attention due to them rudely not having the appropriate prominence!
SOTA is my world-wide family, make no mistake.
Cheers, Mark.
p.s. Iād put off a callsign change to complete the Goat, expect a new one shortly.
Congratulations Mark, very well done!
Thanks for some enjoyable contacts along the way, and your excellent activation reports and photos here on the Reflector. We had a good S2S chat back in 2021, but my favourite memory is sitting on Buckden Pike G/NP-009 in 2017 and hearing you explain that āMark from Windermereā had just received his full licence M0NOM.
