The date of the event is approaching.
So far we have a total of 15 stations alerted, but there will be more.
De Katsu JP3DGT
Very nice event. But, on that day, I have to assist a workshop on safe mountaineering for a mountaineering organization I belong to. I can’t even watch the bands. Too bad…
JH3GBD Shin
Good luck to all! We will try to listen from a summit in California. I’m guessing 15m cw might work.

Hello, Katsu.Thank you for announcing the JA SOTA QSO. I was able to set up on one of my local peaks, W6/CT-226, for the event. You were my first S2S. Thank you!
Between 2130 and 0051Z I made S2S QSOs with ten different JA stations, sixteen QSOs in all on 17, 15,12, and 10 meters. Several JA chasers were also logged as were a few NA S2S and chasers. I could hear BX2AKP on 15 for several minutes, but could not get through the pileup.
JS1IFK, JH0WMN/0, JJ1OMV/1 were not strong enough to call, but I could tell they were on frequency. JH0UUY/0 and JA4RQO/4 had Q4 signals, but did not respond to my calls.
My station was a KX3 @5 watts and a 44’ doublet fed with CAT5e single twisted pair hung from a 6 meter pole. After 00Z I ran 10 watts.
S2S stations logged:
JP3DGT/3 17, 10
JR8MHA/7 17
JG1BOK 17
JG4LCS/5 15, 12
7N1FRE/7 15
JI3BAP/3 15, 10
7M4QZE/1 15, 10
JL1NIE 15, 10
JF1NDT/1 15, 12
JE1LHW/1 10
JA chasers logged:
JH1MXV 15, 10
JA9MJR 15
JA1VVH 15
JJ1IZY 10
JG0AWE 10
JA1CTV 10
II listened to the NCDXF beacons and JA2IGY was strongest on 12 and 10. I got seventeen Asia rbn hits from:
JN1ILK (6) 12, 10
JI1HFJ (6) 15, 12, 10
BG4GOV (2) 10
BH4RXP (2)10
BH4RRG0 (1) 10
That was a wonderful way to spend my day. A cloudy misty morning became a partly sunny cool afternoon. Thank you for all the QSOs!

Thank you for S2S
Katsu JP3DGT
Condition was good.
I was also able to do a lot of S2S.
Katsu JP3DGT
I went to JA/KT-014 in the morning (local time) and JA/HG-243 in the afternoon.
Early morning propagation with North America was good and lots of S2S was made.
Evening propagation with Europe was good (unfortunately no S2S).
Let’s do it again!
Katsu JP3DGT
I went out early to try to catch some of the JA activators in the 0600-0700z slot. I did work one JA, but not a SOTA activator. Conditions were really good to VK at this time. I did tune into several spotted JA SOTA frequencies, but couldn’t hear anything.
It looked from the spots like there was high JA SOTA activity around 2200z, and at 0400z. I might be tempted in future to camp out on a summit so I can be operational at these times too.
It’s been a while, Tom.
JA/HG-243 is the mountain I S2S’d with you before.
I tried many times to listen to your signal on 20m but unfortunately I could not hear it.
I had good JA-EU propagation on 15m and 17m from 07:00Z to 08:00Z.
It is difficult because conditions change from day to day.
I was unaware that this event was going on, but very happy that Katsu JP3DGT found me on 17m CW during my W0C (Colorado) summit activation for a S2S contact. He patiently repeated his callsign and summit reference, allowing me to complete my first S2S with Japan. Thanks!
Peter KD0YOB
Thank you too.
The rig was a KX2 (10W) and the antenna was IVDP (feeder height was 8mh).
See you again.
Katsu JP3DGT
JA SOTA QSO PARTY Thanks QSO with me. I activated it at 2 summit which is easy to access and was able to make 26 S2S QSO.
Thanks all!
seiji/JG4LCS
I Unfortunately was on and off summit before any JA stations were spotted, probably by hours. I hope you all had a great time.

Thank you for the event - I was very happy to get several JA s2s in the log! I’m looking forward to the next one.
