That would be fantastic if you could add it! I installed your app there and I have to say (for whatever my humble opinion is worth) it really is very impressive. It looks like you’ve thought of almost everything.
I like the self-spot option which seems to be available to do from within the QSO form line. That’s super handy. I did try a test spot there but it didn’t show up on Ham Alert. Guessing self-spots don’t go to POTA.app or DX Watch.
Are the frequency inputs for self-spotting dependent on the use of the decimal separator? Ergo, I want to spot myself on 7110, do I enter 7110 or 7.110?
Hi Sebastian,
I think the Turbo Encanbulator may need a re-bore but just to let you know that the very latest September 24 - Pre-8 release still is unable to load the needed SOTA summits file to my (3GB RAM) LG K43 smartphone.
Also used it for several activations and it works great.
I would like to see a better use of the real estate onscreen when used on a phone.
don’t need seconds and the trailing ‘z’ in the time column
don’t need rate statistics always on screen - SOTA is no contest
Yep that’s an issue that I noticed too. Whenever there is unstable network connection it might loose connection and SSO permissions.
Might also be an issue on the SOTA SSO system as from my point of view it does not work very reliable. It was fine the first month when SSO was first introduced but now I have to reconnect 5+ times per day on the same device/browser. So independent from the PoLo app there is something wrong.
I note the features you are not interested in. Maybe it would be possible to parameterise the onscreen features in the settings page. Rather than remove altogether.
I’ve been a loyal user of VKPortalog for several years.
I’m genuinely sorry to move on to this new phone logger, but I have simply found it’s easier to use. I’m very appreciative of the work put into VKPortalog.
That would be the best of course. I learned that some POTA operators like to operate it like a contest so for them it is relevant.
And the time should of course be logged with full timestamp. Just on the screen I don’t care for seconds. And the SOTA database also has no use for seconds (HH:MM)
Also using vk Port-a-log since quite some time and some features are well developted that are still missing in PoLo. But that will be only a matter of time.
For the ones that did not notice yet.
SOTA adif exports from PoLo have now the RS(T) reports included in the comments/notes (just like VK-portalog did in the csv export).
This makes is possible to share/keep your logged RS(T) (s = send, r=received) and potentially recover this information from SOTAdata at a later time if needed.
It’s looking super neat. I will give it a try on my.next activation.
A suggestion : in the spots page, when the summit name is a bit long, the points and altitude disappear because of the reduced size of cell. It would be nice for the spot lines to be extendable to get full details (+ comments) without the necessity to go in landscape mode.
@OE5JFE Hi Joe, I tried exporting today’s activation log to ADIF, but it doesn’t seem to include notes or comments (iPad, Ham2k 24.9.7 - Build 24.9.0)
Is there a way to enable this feature?
the above is my chaser log, ones marked red I edited my chaser log and written them manually (activation logged by Ham2K), ones marked green appeared automatically (activation logged by VK-log)
Most likely you need to switch to the beta version of Ham2K. I just tested it with Build 24.10.0-pre6 and it is fine there.
Or wait some more days until the next official version is public.
Unfortunatly that is true. It is not working very well. I always need to go to the settings menu. Then the app connects to SOTA and the one spot works.
See my spots today done with the app
I have just added this to my Android, September '24 Release 24.9.7 - Build 24.9.0.
I will be using it in place of my Mobile Chaser paper logbook. I like the ease of use for Chasers, just click on the Spot and it enters most of the fields!
Unfortunately for those with a Smartphone with only 3GB or RAM the problem of Ham2K Polo aborting when trying to download the SOTA summits list is still present and while this app works well for POTA and UKBOTA (and I’m sure the other schemes listed) for me it is not yet usable for SOTA.
As the whole shebang is only 23MB what’s the real problem? There are per-association and per-region API calls to let you download just the summits you are likely to be interested in so probably there’s no need to get everything in one big lump anyway.
i.e. when I was activating in Europe this summer, I downloaded summit data for FL/VO, F/JU, DL/BW as that was where I would be. I didn’t need to download 18500 or so Alaskan summits. Or 18000+ Mexican summits. Just saying…
Hi Andy,
at present the app only allows a full download of the SOTA summits. I can’t select e.g. just Europe.
Trying this on a virtual Android 11 device with 4GB of RAM works but on one with 3GB, the app simply aborts during the download, as it does on my LG phone. Perhaps most users have 4GB phones in the meantime?
Now I am relieved. I also have the problem that I can post one or sometimes two spots before it stops working. The only solution so far is to log in again. I wrote to Sebastian on Discord, and he said he would look into it. It’s a great program, and I will continue to promote it at exhibitions.
