European SOTA sixty metre activity session 28/29th. January 2017

Hi Jonathon,
OK understand and respect your position - just floated this idea as a way to equalise the playing field - but as this was not a contest, it’s not importnat that e.g. PA and G/M ops run 100W out and those in WRC15 band allocation countries only 2.5w output.

In fact if you check the thread about “what is 15W EIRP” - you’ll find 15W EIRP is not the same across all countries! BNetZa the regulator in Germany uses 2.1 dbi gain as the figure for a dipole, whereas ground directional gain is over 6 dbi. This means with 2-3 dB cable/connector loss, German amateurs can run 12-15W PEP from their rigs to a dipole whereas other countries (if they use the 6dbi gain figure) only allow 2.5w PEP from the rigs.

Hmm, rather a mess!
