I took a punt on a TUMD paddle. Ordered October 4th delivered October 14th. Cost £40.78 inc VAT. from the TUMD store. Came very well packed unlike some AliExpress items.

I have the plastic case, paddle, 3.5mm stereo lead and Allen key. It all feels well made. Action is OK. Cable feels high quality and solid, plugging into socket on paddle feels good.

Action feels OK from a quick play. Different to a Palm Paddle. We’ll see how good it is on Saturday morning in the EU<>VK LP event.

And I note from the label on the box, mine was made in Inner Mongolia which is about as exotic a source location as I can think of right now

I had a google and found a listing on ebay. Helpfully the seller warns:

Attention: This product only supports hand-held hair patting and does not have the function of adsorbing object surfaces

So, Andy, I hope you take account of that on Saturday morning.

I haven’t got much hair left to pat! To be fair, their English is better than my Cantonese.

I see a great variety of different paddles at the Graz CW School and cheap options may well be worth exploring. However, I have seen paddles with far too much return force and absolutely no way to adjust it. The fewer options there are for adjustment, the more skeptical I become. It annoys me a little bit to see students persisting with paddles that are substandard and, in reality, belong in the bin.
