All 333 G&GW summits activated in 16 months: M0RWX

Congratulations Robert @M0RWX - great report and an enjoyable read! Well done on the completion of G and GW land - now you need to pop up north and try some challenging GM routes :grinning: was good to speak with you over the past few days while activating in GI - hope you had a nice festive break and a happy new year!

All the best for 2024.

Ha ha. That’s no excuse. Try having two jobs…

Try my method - it’s suited me well for many years. Work used to get in the way of all the activating I wanted to do too. Then I had the bright idea of routinely doing a SOTA activation on my way to or from a job! Continues to work well for me!

Thanks Ben @GW4BML for the nice words. Wishing you and those dear to you also a very happy & healthy 2024.

Was good to make contact whilst you were in GI and hopefully speak tomorrow whilst on the hills in GW.

Indeed Tom, but one is enough for me. I’ve also heard many say that since retirement they’ve never been busier
So guess I will have to make the most of it - and follow your method - whilst still working…

Indeed.

I’m not quite sure whether I’ve already retired (very early) - or if I will ever retire!

I resigned from my career and haven’t had an employer for 8 years. In other news, I’m working harder than ever and loving every minute of it!

I’m coming up for 4000 SOTA activations undertaken and worked full-time (or more!) and raised a family throughout that time.

As I look forward in my life, I am convinced that to continue to participate in SOTA, I’ll need to continue to carefully integrate it into my daily work and family life.

Congratulation Robert @M0RWX. Really nice to meet you on GW/SW-001 yesterday. Must admit, I didn’t grasp the full significance of the call sign… so somewhat daft to ask if you have been up Pen y Fan before… when you’ve completed the lot in wales !

Congratulations, really nice to meet you and hope you meet see you up another summit soon !

What a journey!!

I’m in awe of how quickly you’ve made your way through all the summits (I’m 17 years in and I’ve still a way to go), but I’m glad you got such amazing conditions as you reached your end goal, especially your final activation on Mynydd Enlli. It’s been a pleasure getting you S2S, as well as meeting up on Upper Park.

Next up - Completes? Nothing better than climbing your local and chasing for 4 hours!

Many thanks!
Likewise Tim; I was good to put a face to a callsign.

Looking forward to our next contact, if not on person from a summit, then perhaps a S2S.

Hope you didn’t get the visit from the warden as I did.

All the best,
Robert

Thanks Jordan! Was good to meet you also and make a two S2S contacts when you were on Mynydd Enlli.

Not quite sure yet what next. If I make it to The Netherlands this spring, I have my eye on the two PA summits. But after that, no firm plans yet.

Speak soon!

If you get over to PA, then as well as the two PA summits, there may be an ON summit or two that’s nearer to where you’re staying than one of those PA summits! When we stayed over there, we had the first 5 days south of Amsterdam. From there we did one of the PA summits and one of the ON summits. We did the second of the PA summits while driving over to Liege (ON) for the second part of the holiday. From Liege, we did several ON summits, plus a full day out doing all* the LX summits and another ON summit). *Before the discovery of LX/LX-005, which we will need to bag whenever next in ON/DM.

For a more substantial project (and you are obviously capable of substantial projects!), then I heartily recommend going for an all-association-activated of GI. The five regions are really distinct in character, as are the areas of the province they are in. Plus you’ll encounter some fantastic bars and plenty of amazing breakfasts!

Hi Tom,
I was born in Amsterdam and lived there until work took me to the UK - where I stayed since. Most family and friends still live there so most likely this will be my base during my time in PA. Dropping down into ON for some days before getting the ferry back may well be an option.

Activating in GI is definitely on my to-do list, and would like to spend some extended time there touring around.

Thanks for the tips!
