SOTA logo

Hi all,

we would like to get some 30x30cm SOTA flags made for Hungarian SOTA group in Hungary.
Is there any high resolution, free usable SOTA logo which we can use?

For my version of the SOTA logo that is fairly good blown up to 27"x27" (my monitor times two)or even better smaller right click and ‘save as’ on it at sota - gw7aav2 this might be better than the small official logo.

I have also made some simplified versions of the SOTA logo that may be more suitable tee-shirt printing. They are much bigger than the official version so don’t look quite so blocky when blown up. One file is the Paint Shop Pro original which should retain the layers so it can be tweaked as required. The others are in Jpeg format and there are three. One has the green removed from the image for use on a green shirt, one has the red removed for use on a red shirt and the main one is suitable for using on a white or other coloured shirt. They are available to download here - http://gw7aav.googlepages.com/Simple_SOTA_Logo.zip

As far as I am concerned these images can be used by any individual or non-profit venture with the necessary permissions from the SOTA management.
If anyone including the original logo designer wishes these images removed from my website I will be happy to do so.

Hi Steve,

your graphics look great!
The SOTA_simplified_logo seems perfect for a flag.
Thanks for your help.

I look forward to seeing your flag design and a few photographs of it flying in the breeze on your activations.

OK.

We will stay on Crete from 9th until 16th of May and I plan to activate some summits there. I have high hopes of taking the SOTA flag, too…

Hi Zsolt,

I was in 2007 and 2008 on Crete Island. (Chersonissos and Georgioupolis)

Unfortunately I have on that moments no opportunity to make some contacts on any summit over there and that because the extremely high QRM levels S:5-7-9+ on ALL bands.(from 160<->70 cm) Yes ALL bands !!!
On the beach permanent S 2-4. I do not know exactly where the QRM came from on that moment. But via some SV9-hams I learned that it has something to do with the different military bases over there, and something with the war in the East regions like Afghanistan, Iraq ect … Almost on every mountain is a transmitter/recieving installation militairy, GSM, ect … ect … Be careful with the militairy stations, some are heavily protected by armed guards on the summits! TAKE NO PICTURES !!!

About the QRM: perhaps it is now done … I do not know !

Take enough fresh water and food with you during the activations.

Good luck with your activation on SV9-land.

Good work Dan very useful.

For those that might be wondering about the significance of this, vector graphics can be scaled to any size irrespective of resolution. A designer/printer would normally prefer to use vector file formats for line-work (like logos) rather than a raster file like a JPEG, TIFF etc at a certain resolution (normally only for contone files or images) that can either appear “pixelated” or “blocky” when blown up. In the worst case (for a JPEG), it could even display the compression artefacts introduced when saving.

So Dan’s work is very helpful… Thanks again.
