Soft Saisie SOTA

In reply to G8TMV:

Hi Colin

I thought most browsers did that automatically these days. Chrome detects the language and asks if you want it translated. It makes a pretty good job of it too.

In reply to G8TMV:

Considering that SOTA is international - could you do an English
translation of your SOTA related web pages please?

Hi Colin,
The pages SOTA FRANCE are in French because there are just a translation of the SOTA UK pages (rules, awards, explanations…)
The only page that should need to be translated is the one with the software.

That is the one I was requesting

In reply to G8TMV:
Might I ask why being int’nal the pages must be translated only into english and not into other languages?. Non english speakers have to make the effort to “work” on the only-english sota official environment -policy which I respect…
But also in sota france??? come on!
With respect,
Mikel
n.b. please look at www.euskalmendiak.eu is that ok for you?

Of course the more translations the better. I only mentioned English because it does seem to be the international language of Ham Radio.

That is excellent! Well done.

In reply to EA2CW:
Mikel, you bring up a very valid point and one which has caused some concern to the MT in recent times. It would be advantageous for much of the SOTA information to be provided in French, German and Spanish (at least) fo the benefit of all participants. The big problem is that most of the MT suffer from the British disease - we lack language skills.

I feel (my personal opinion) that we now need to address this and certainly make the essential information (on all the main SOTA sites) available in a range of languages - we just need volunteers, who can show definite skill in their translation abilities (and have the time), to undertake the task.

Any offers? Perhaps a response off-reflector would be more appropriate, I am happy to coordinate the many offers which will now flood in!

Just used this software for the very first time. Worked flawlessly and makes corrections to previously entered QSO lines simple.

Thanks for sharing this software!

Hello Sake,
Alain cannot answer yet, because he is out for a week.
Here I can quit the V 8.8 without problem. Using Windows 7.
May be you can download and re-install the Version 8.8 to solve the problem.

Another question:
I am worried about William PA0WLB. No news since 16/06/2014, no more GSM SMS, no mail answer. do you have an info?
Gerald

In reply to F6HBI:

Hi Alain,

I have used Saisie to transfer my handwritten log into a cvs file and upload to the SOTA database for the last three activations.

I noticed a new feature today, which was not so obvious to me: When the file contains S2S QSO’s one can upload the activator log and then the same file in a second upload as a chaser log. Only the S2S QSO get uploaded and they appear correctly as S2S QSO in the database. I used to manually enter S2S QSOs until now. What a waste of time that was!

Thanks for sharing, Heinz, OE5EEP

In reply to OE5EEP:

The V2 format was developed to allow S2S upload. You can mix activations, chases and S2S QSOs in the same file and then import it twice. The fact you have to import it twice, once for activations and once for chases is a legacy of how the original code was structured. One day that will changed so only a single import will be needed.

Hello dear friends,
I’m just able to read your posts today.
My mother passed last thursday, and you can imagine that I was not “in the mood”.
To avoid thinking too much, I spent some hours to improve the program; Thomas DL8DBW tested it on his tablet from a summit and found that some improvement could be done on the “zoom” window (the one you may use when in high light).
So I just put a V8.9 version on line; starting an old version, you should get a message saying that the new version will be downloaded and run.
So, don’t hesitate to tell me if you have other problems or if you think that any improvement can be done.

Dear Alain,
I have finally used your great program after my last 2 activations while I’m still on vacation at EA1/CR área.
I write to say that I find this program very helpful and it’s going to save a lot of time to all SOTA activators using it.
Thanks a lot.
