Hi all, Guisborough radio club are planning to hold a SOTA weekend in the Yorkshire Dales on the 24-26th July if anybody would like to come and join us. We are currently looking for camping facilities around the Ribble Viaduct area and will confirm the location at a later date. Please drop me a message if you wish to attend.
The campsite is organised, we are using The Dalesbridge - Yorkshire Dales Campsite, Pods, Cabins, Lodge, Bar in Austwick nr Settle please mention the club if booking so that they keep us together

I’ve had the idea to have a local gathering for many years but never really came up with a plan that worked.
I live close to Dalesbridge campsite, I tend to favour the next campsite along, Orcaber Farm.
I think you’ll have a great time. I’ll endeavour to take part if I can.

Does anyone fancy trying 23cm? 
Be good to see you there. The club has just gained it’s 3rd SOTA activator so we thought a weekend away doing the Yorkshire Three peaks would be a good club event hence it happening. We also hold a DXpedition each year to the Isle of Lewis where we do SOTA amongst other things if anyone is interested in this, Thats in Sept, the week of the 20th, about £350 each all in for a week away.

I havent looked at my calendar or asked permission from the station manager yet but I’m thinking of using this as an excuse for a day out.
If I can get permission for the day I’ll be taking 23cm. I’ve yet to try the transverter in anger but maybe one of these days I’ll remember everything (coax on 1st attempt, tranverter power lead on 2nd attempt)
Rombalds Moor is my likely target (because I am unfit 
)
I’ll have a better idea in the next couple of weeks.

Yes, but… I’m getting a bit old for camping now, I like my creature comforts too much. I camp when we contest because there’s no real alternative. But for this event, yes interested and I’ll look for a B&B etc. in the area I think.

I have all my 23cm bits in one of those cheap zip up cases from Ali/Ebay to keep everything together and not lose anything, and my FT817 plus its bits in another.

I was 100% certain I had everything sorted when I packed it all up ready including the lead with powerpoles on one end and the barrel jack plug for the transverter on the other end.
On unpacking, the lead had powerpoles on both ends.
Maybe I have a magical powerpole crimping box
Yes. Is the idea to get as many G/NP summits activated as possible that weekend?
If I’m free, I’ld be happy to take part. I have my favourite G/NP’s that I tend to do most years. I’m a bit slow this year and so far have done only Ingleborough G/NP-005. Guessing that visitors will want to do the other very popular ones (e.g. Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, Rombalds Moor) I’ll activate those summits before July and choose a less-popular one for the event.
I can take 23cm FM for sure.

There isn’t really much of an overall objective, but I think S2S’s would be a big part of the weekend. I’m hoping the hills will be very much alive that weekend.
A few of us are hoping to do the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on the Saturday, bagging each summit along the way. Although silly me already did this in January and would be going along just for the fun and 0 points

Despite living not too far away I’m yet to have done the Three Peaks in one walk, and this sounds like a good excuse to go off and do it!
If someone could DM me maybe closer to the date and let me know logistics of where you’re meeting and timings etc I’d like to tag along
