WY7N GOAT Summit this Saturday (31 Aug 2024)

It’s time to get my GOAT! I’m 13 points away!

Here is the plan.

I’m taking a vacation day on Friday. There are a few chores I must do, but hope to be able to activate W7U/WA-008 in the early afternoon. If successful, I will then be at 995 total points. Just one summit away!

Then, rather than going home for the night, I will head south and set up camp in the AZ of W7U/UT-011 Bear Benchmark.

My hope is to sit on that summit for most of 24 hours and work as many people throughout the world as possible. If you are activating a summit, I will try very hard to complete an S2S with you!

I plan to set up two quite large V wire beams. One will be aimed at Europe.

I hope to see you the log!

That’s a great Goat Day plan on a nice summit. I’ll try to work you.

I can picture the summit, as KQ4IAM and I activated it on 19 July this year.

Thanks Andy! Will that be 401 completes for you?!! (Or have you gotten a few more since you were there?) (See: N4LAG Andy 400 SOTA COMPLETES!)

Hi Bruce, when I activated it that was my complete there. I have a few more since.

That makes sense.

It looks like you are at 407!

Congrats on all the completes!

One of my favorite things is to help others get completes. (And sometimes getting one for myself too!)

I couldn’t help it. I had to know. Look who is #2 in the US on completes:

That’s awesome, Bruce! Our MG herd in UT is a little low, we need you! So excited you’ve come so far so fast, nice job!

Thanks Mike!

You were my SOTA Elmer. You started this!

Was it you that told me I was on a slippery slope?

I will keep an eye out for you this weekend. Good luck!

Thanks Gary!

I’m thinking to call CQ on most bands 10M-40M every couple hours. I’ll do that on even UTC hours, 1600, 1800, 2000, etc.

Of course, I will also chase every S2S I can!

The weather looks good! I’ll be leaving in an hour or two. On my way to W7U/WA-008!

(P.S.: It’s a 4.5 hour drive from my house to reach the trailhead.)

It was a success!
