Make sure you take some counter measures for the Arctic Skuas. They are all over the hill, massive, and utterly vicious.

Thanks Phil, appreciate the comments and advice. Sorry for hijacking the thread into 160m DXing! Not many low banders active now. Top end of 80m isn’t what i remember it 10-15 years ago.
The doublet was really only intended here as a local, short-skip antenna. This year I managed to acquire a 100 ft Versatower on a trailer, so I have a few more options now. My experience of vertical radiators on mountain soil has been mixed, though, and several experienced OMs have suggested going with an inverted L for 160m DX.
Sticking with CW for now, more rewarding for me personally.
There was a funny paragraph in John’s book about drinking lots of water before going to bed specifically so you’d wake up in the night and get on the radio.
