Here is the story of two wonderful days in the mountains with my son Emilio where I activated Mount Velino I/AB-318 in the Pota IT-0368 area (Velino State Natural Reserve). We left yesterday and camped at the base of the long path that leads to the summit. In total there are 1550 meters of altitude difference that we preferred to divide in two.
After a cool night this morning at 7.00 we left for the summit. In three hours we reached the top where I mounted a wire (with 9:1 balun) and my usual Kx3 Elecraft. Good propagation but some ugly black clouds made us descend earlier than expected.
The result is that in the last half hour of walking towards the car we even got rained on but overall two wonderful days in a completely wild area of Abruzzo
