Wild cat on Sota

Today I had a very rare encounter while descending the Ebersnacken DM/NS-129.

A wildcat in full concentration in front of a mouse hole. Such a happy coincidence.
Of course my first encounter and certainly my last. I’m very excited.

Aren’t you the guy who saw a wild boar on an activation (wasn’t it the Eilumer Horn DM/NS-165? - cute summit, BTW)?
In that case I recommend you not to activate Mount Pleasant VE1/NS-016. That’s what I saw at the parking space

Not very encouraging  Take a 2m handheld and continously call CQ while you’re walking …

Superb! Our Humphrey thinks he’s a wildcat, but I’m not so sure…

Again I had the pleasure of getting up close and personal with a wild cat… in a wildlife park.

Humphrey is not as wild as he once was

Is that a wild species or a feral housecat? It, and the other pics you posted, look just like a housecat.

Around here, we have bobcats and rumors of cougars, but the latter hasn’t been confirmed by anyone trustworthy. We also have bears (mostly docile and typically run away) and coyotes (also runners).

WIld species. European wildcat.

I’ve seen bobcat and bear in the Appalachian Mountains in Georgia. As Chris said, there are rumors of cougar ( Puma concolor, a.k.a. mountain lion, puma, or catamount) around here but nothing confirmed that I am aware of. Oddly enough, I have seen/heard coyotes more frequently in suburban areas than in the remote mountains.

It is a young wild cat that was born in the park this spring. What was noticeable was that she didn’t show any shyness because she only knows life with the many visitors.
