Why No-One wants go Hill Walking with me

Blues ‘n’ Trouble

I saw them at a low ceiling joint in Dundee, probably ‘89. They were very awesome and very loud.

Next day, I went to work at Tesco and they had to take me off the checkout because I couldn’t hear the beep and kept mis-scanning everyone’s shopping. I was deaf for three days.

Today, still awesome and thankfully not so loud.

I’ve left 2 items on summits:-
(1) I left a Kenwood handie on Foel Fenlli NW 051 but didn’t discover the loss for a week. I went back & found it wet but it dried out OK.
(2) I left a Tracer battery on the summit of Yr Aran NW-019- I discovered the loss the day after & persuaded my pal Ken who lives nearby to go back up the following day in the pouring rain to retrieve it. I am still buying him cream teas to compensate!

In all seriousness (for once), it was a great wee hill, in good company. No broken bones, torn ligaments or ruptured spleens.

The last peaty ditch almost had both of us on the way back, within 5m of the vehicles but we dealt with it like the amateurs we are

I haven’t been to Arran for a long time, actually went because of work, I used to work for a holiday company that had a hotel in Lamlash. After I had arrived and had something to eat I went for a drive around the island, actually saw a pod of dolphins close offshore at a small place called Corrie. Went for a walk along the beach before work, so peaceful! I have said I need to go back with a radio!

It was at the roadside. Both of our other halves standing on the other side offering advice on how to cross. I went for a shallow bit with a ropey landing on the other side. One which crumbled away as I stepped on it. Denis opted to cross where the ditch was as deep as he was tall. Just showing off really. He couldn’t get out either. All very embarrassing for us extreme mountaineers in front of our ladies.

There are plenty of nice easy ones in GM/ES. Just let me know when you are coming over and I’ll get the gang together.

I would love to go hillwalking with you. We are back in Edinburgh this weekend, and will be trying to get out in the hills as soon as possible.

I’m sure the last summit we both climbed together, Beinn Buie, on Mull, you tripped over your feet and went a clop-per on the descent? :see_no_evil_monkey:

Then before that, didn’t you twist your ankle when we did the long route in the Cairngorms, taking Ben Macdui in?

It’s all coming back to me now - when’s our next outing? This could be fun!

That was defiantly you!
