NGL I thought this was a thread about Peter Odemwingie in a Range Rover parked outside the QPR managers office on Transfer Deadline Day. ![]()
Only thing wrong with that car in the photo is it isnāt an Austin Allegro Equipe. ![]()
YOuāve seen the outside, now, hereās the inside:
HAHAHHAHHAHA !
Just kidding, I canāt imagine whose mess this is.
73 have a good laugh. K6YK
Many years ago I worked a guy who was running 2m SSB mobile while driving along the Fosse Way, a straight Roman road in central England. He was using a 14 element yagi mounted on his roof rack and as he was heading directly towards my QTH he was, not surprisingly, extremely strong!
ā¦and not a sniff of 270 cw in that mess. Unacceptable.
Itās amazing how far away you can work a mobile on VHF/UHF SSB or CW. And they donāt have to be up on a hill, just going down the highway with a horizontal loop antenna.

I need to find the YouTube link but there is a guy with his YL doing mobile HF contesting basically collecting states and districts in the US. ⦠while she is driving.
One can track him via APRS and he is starting at 40 WPM CW and slows down towards the end of the district so that normal operators also have a chance.
I think thatās it:
But thatās no fair, somebody else is driving! Just kidding, contesting takes a lot of concentration. When I was working for a living I did all my CW mobiling whilst driving. When we went on long trips, my XYL and I would switch off driving, and when she was driving I would put one kid in the front and myself and one kid would take the back seat and Iād work CW back there. It was great to actually be able to operate and concentrate fully on the radio. We did casual operating, county hunting, contesting. It was great!

I think youād still be in with a chance of being āthe coolest car in the parking lotā Mark. At most parking lots youād see his antenna farm lying on the ground outside the height restrictor. ![]()
ps another new callsign to learn!
In any case, those beams on the car are too close to each other and their performance will be degraded!
No twig for top band!
