When is a region Activated?

Here’s a conundrum.

My total Associations activated shows as 33… but when I count the individual Associations in the Activated regions stats page I get 32…

Likewise Regions. Total 60.. count in list is 58.

Then I worked out the I Association and both the VE and AA regions are missing from my list of activated regions….

I kind of know why. I’ve only activated 1 summit in each of those regions… but both summits have subsequently been removed from the programme.

I do love an IT “edge case”…… or is it working as intended?

PS.. when I was working in IT they used to give me everything to try out after the functional testing was supposed be complete…. I’d usually find a way of breaking it. :joy:

Yes.

So…. Which one is right.. the count or the list… as they disagree. :slightly_smiling_face:

They both are. You knew I would say that.

My Awards shows the all time list of associations I have activated including summits which are no longer valid. My Activated Regions shows which regions you have activated based on currently valid summits.

Years back I did PA/PA-004 so My Awards shows I have activated in PA. My Activated Regions does not show PA/PA because I have not activated a currently valid PA summit.

The reason My Activated Regions only includes currently activated summits is because if it didn’t and there were deleted summits in that region , someone starting today would never be able to 100% activated as they would never be able to log a no longer valid summit. (Or chased, it’s the same.)

It makes sense when you consider the bigger picture. So both numbers are right for different reasons. You can see why I just typed “yes” in the first reply.

Bit like my completion of GM/ES which is no longer valid because somebody moved a summit location a few metres

You lost a 100% region complete score. I lost a whole association !

Some of us England completists have had several new summits to activate to re-complete our achievement, I’ve not long completed Wales and will soon have to make a trip to re-complete… actually looking forward to it. Thank goodness there’s too many summits in Scotland to make it a necessity…. perhaps applies to everyone.

Hi Andy, I’m obviously reading this list differently to you. It includes regions as soon as you activate one summit. Not complete them. So including regions where only deleted summits had been activated would have no bearing on future activators as they would get a region added to their list the moment they logged their first valid activation for that region.

It’s this list.

It’s nothing to do with completed regions?

I’ve got a few Regions/Associations with just a single activation in them that shows in the list, like HB0, VK2, VK3, ZL1 and ZL3 to name a few.

Yes you are. What do you think the %age complete figure shown for each region listed means?

If deleted summits were included, the percentage figure would in certain circumstances exceed 100%. For example in G/NP I have activated 32 summits with 29 on the current list, G/NP-021 and G/NP-025 were replaced by G/NP-031 and G/NP-032. G/NP-030 was deleted. Do I need a table that shows I have more than completed a region? Personally no, but I can see that the deletion of PA/PA-004 could be annoying.

It means the total of current available summits divided by the total of activated current summits, times 100.

So probably what’s missing is a separate column of total summits activated (no longer valid), which wouldn’t go in the calculation for %age complete.

Then the count of activated Associations and Regions would match this list. As both of the regions would reappear as one (no longer valid) and then zero activated current summits.

I would imagine that change would be low on your list of priorities.

Anyway… an interesting anomaly. Maybe I’ll go back to both Regions and do another currently valid one to get the two back in sync.
