What to do when 6m is Open

While activating G/WB-005 on 14/06/25 discovered that 6m seemed to be open.

So what to do for an antenna?

Take the screw in part of a JPC-12 with the so-239 socket and screw in 2 x 5.6m telescopic whips, adjust for resonance and away we go.

It worked mostly if a bit wobbly as a rotatable dipole, and I doubt it would stand much wind.

The excellent method of mounting to a pole

2 x 5.6m sections seems to be double the required length for a half wave dipole. Or is there something i’ve missed? Oh, one section is the mast. (Later edit: they aren’t extended fully, so make two 3m sections)

I have a flowerpot style vertical for 6m which is very simple to erect and use.

If you work HF and have a 30 meter dipole, it will work on 6 meters.
I have used mine quite a bit on 6 and have had pretty fair success with it. Works better than a half wave dipole. It is sort of like using a 40 meter dipole on 15 meters.

40 mtr dipoles work as well, presumably 7/2’s on 6.

The 5.6m whips are telescopic and only extended to make a traditional half wave dipole. Used these since they were what i had on the summit.

Probably could have made a 20m dipole but that would have been very unstable.

The JPC PAC-12. The bacon of antennas. Is there anything it can’t do?

Love mine. :kissing_heart: :ok_hand:
