2025 got out to a cold start, but it is time to think of the upcoming W4T SOTA campout this summer. The date will center around the weekend of July 19 and 20, but as usual, come as early as you want and stay as long as you can. Our campground will once again be at Roan Mountain State Park, 1015 Highway 143, Roan Mountain, TN 37687. The park did sustain some wind damage from Hurricane Helene and certain parts of the park are closed, including the upper campground. Our hot dog roast worked well last year so let’s plan on doing that again. I will buy the dogs, buns, and condiments; if you want to bring a side dish or snack, that will help, but let’s keep it simple because we have summits to do! I will have some wooden roasting sticks that I bought at Walmart but if you have one or two metal ones they will be much better. Please bring your own chair and drink. Also, if anyone has any firewood, please let me know, if not I will pick up some before the campout.
I have reserved Site 20 for Thursday through Sunday. Please respond when you get your reservation with your site number and who will be there with you so that I can compile a list of attendees.
The area summits are many. I will post a list soon with some trail descriptions and approximate travel time from the campground.
