I arrived at Clingmans Dome today, unfortunately it was raining hard so I couldn’t operate HF. With my wife and younger daughter left at the car park I continued to the top with my older daughter with the intention of a quick activation on VHF.
Half way to the top the weather got worse with thunder and lightning. I tried on VHF at the top but only managed one brief qso. A couple others were heard but we had to leave the summit due to the bad weather. Apologies if you were calling.
After a trip to Savannah GA tomorrow we will head back up the coast to MD where I hope to activate one or two summits.
