Hi all, just a quick heads up: Fraser @MM0EFI and Myself GW4BML will be joining together tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 25th June) to activate the following SOTA summit:
Moel SiabodGW/NW-010 @ approx 14:30 UTC
Fraser will be operating on 145-FM and maybe HF, and I will operate on 7-SSB/CW. Times are an estimate, but I will have my GPS Garmin on me if anyone wants to track our progress. Please pass this message on, we want to show Fraser how busy the Welsh hills are on 2m FM it would be great to work some stations from the SOTA community 73, Ben GW4BML/p & Fraser MW0EFI/p
I’m not anywhere near a radio tomorrow Ben so will miss out but hope you have a great joint activation and that Fraser can add his unique Scottish banter and enthusiasm to the fine folk of that lovely area of Wales.
Moel Siabod is a great one for Richards digirepeater (G3CWI-2) near Macclesfield. It should pick you up with out any issues. Sadly I’m the other side of the Pennies so I doubt I’ll get you from home Frazer on 2m, but I’ll try.
Moel Siabod is a great hill. Shame the Siabod cafe is now shut at the bottom - best scones in Snowdonia as I remember.
Some of us do like APRS; others not so much. I lent a tracker to Tom M1EYP. He used it once and handed it straight back (broken). I will be out with a mobile igate today. Probably on Shining Tor about lunchtime. Maybe catch you both on 2m FM.
I was debating Tryfan, but I think as a whole, Moel Siabod is one of the best mountains for full views of snowdonia on a good day! Looking at the wx, we might be in for a treat Tryfan is also an extra 30 minute drive, and we don’t have a lot of time. Be good to work you if your about
@2M0WNA its just clicked!! after the past couple of months working the call sign 2M0WNA, I finally know who it belongs too apologies Mike, I must of been in a daze the last month or so, hahaa! It’s been great working you from a few different countries lately - it’s a pity your not around today, but I’m sure Fraser can use his banter on air to attract some Welsh folk take care and speak soon!
Fraser is just happy to be having a nice day out with his pal.
I’ve not climbed anything in Wales for 20 years and I’ve never operated a radio from there either. If Wales is any good and Ben does ok as my guide/driver, then I may return.
Haha, Ben, I’m struggling to remember it myself but the relative anonymity helps mask my numerous novice errors on CW! . Been great to work you on CW since I received my new call, although I can’t promise always to get up at 5.30am to work you when you happen to be on a business trip to Spain and fancy a pre-breakfast activation…
Hope you had a great day today. Keep up the great work. Speak again soon. 73 Mike
