VIDEO: Rarely activated summit Karkogel, 1792m OE/OO-392

Hello everyone,

Here a report from a recent summer hike to Karkogel OE/OO-392. Not many have taken the effort so far to activate this summit near Bad Ischl in the lovely Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria.

With more than 1100 m ascent partially on forest roads but mostly on more or less barely visible trails thru a karst area make a bit challenging. Two sections have some UIAA Grade I or I+ climbing parts. Dry wx recommended. Thanks to the excellent GPS track from Heinz OE5EEP it was possible to stay on trail. GPS is needed for that tour!

10m band was working fine that day and I managed to get Adele @ZS5APT and Sid @ZS5AYC in the log despite some QRM. QSO are in the video.
Also OE20SOTA/p was worked and brought me a bit closer to get the diploma worked.

Thanks Geoff for asking. Yes I am more or less fine again. Will need to take it easy for another 4 weeks if everything works out fine.
Will hopefully get some drive-on and easy activations done during that.
