This is the announcement of the annual VHF FM long distance event that is regularly held in EA, on Saturday 21st of June. This is the 7 year edition.
Don’t be surprised to see lots of Spots on VHF: to date there are 49 summits scheduled to be on air simultaneously: that’s a record for our EA land, and probably worldwide for a SOTA association.
We look forward many chases and interesting long distance S2S contacts, usually in the range 200 - 400 kilometer in this event.
Thank you very much Ignacio @EA2BD and all those who have collaborated to organise this day of celebration at the summits.
I also celebrate with this event one year with yaesu818, my first antenna built. And I hope to add some milestones to celebrate the next years! Anyway, what we are going to celebrate is a good day of radio and mountain.
Everything is ready here for tomorrow’s climb to Siete PicosSOTLAS 2134m, with Yaesu818 + flowerpot antenna.
Many thanks also to the other participants who have been encouraged to participate by activating another summit! And to all those who will be at home to try to make contact.
I hope that tomorrow it won’t be too hot and that we will have many amazing DXs!
Si me permiten decir algo más, ¡felicitaciones a todos por este evento!
Cuando veo este tipo de actividad, me digo, recordando años pasados, que tienen algo maravilloso que no tenemos en Francia.

Once again, thanks to the all team that made this amazing event possible and brought together many SOTA enthusiasts from different parts of the EA all trying to communicate over the greatest distances on VHF/FM.
The fun part is all the work done at home preparing antennas, equipment, etc., and then seeing the results on the summit. In my case, I wasn’t very lucky, but next year will be better!
My setup was: Yaesu FT-270, Dynascan D8B, and a 3-element Yagi antenna.
Looking forward to hear you next year on FM.
73!
Manu.
I managed to arrive at Siete Picos EA1/SG-005 30 minutes before I expect. With the flowerpot and the rig I was able to make contact with 21 operators on 16 different jacks which was like being with all 21 operators enjoying together. A total of 92 QSOs made on 2m which is pretty funny.
