Updates to Welsh (GW) Association Reference Manual.
GW/SW-030 Mynydd Machen will be deleted as a Marilyn. It is valid until 1st March 2026. Those wishing to activate the summit for SOTA before it is deleted have until then to do so.
A new summit GW/SW-042 Mynydd y Grug will be valid from 2nd March 2026. Who will be the first to activate it I wonder? Many thanks to MT member Simon G4TJC for his help with the summit listings.
The Welsh Association Manual is now available in Welsh as well as English. Many thanks to Allan and Valerie GW4VPX, and Sue MW6SYL for their help with this.
Due to the recent name changes to Eryri (Snowdonia), Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). The ARM has been updated to reflect this.
I suspect VHF… I wonder if we can make it into a party?
@GM4LLD using your spidey senses… what’s the record for the most number of activators on the first day of activation of a summit? I’ve seen a few with two or three callsigns listed.
I tried to access the summit data but it doesn’t seem to open. I looked the summit up elsewhere and its another summit enhanced by a landscaped spoil tip, in an area that I have family links to.
Many thanks for the information Roger. I was wondering when the changeover date would be as I need Mynydd Machen for a Complete (chase required). Although it will disappear never to be activated again after the due date, it would be good to get the tick for my own personal account. Does this class as pedantry or is it just an OCD issue?
I remember enjoying Mynydd Machen, indeed many of my solo outings to the South Wales summits before I teamed up with Paul G4MD to complete the set which changed the dynamic.
Mynydd y Grug will be required to re-complete Wales. Hopefully I will be able to resist making comparisons and treat it as an entirely new experience.
Now who is activating SW-030 in the next few weeks?
I’m sure if you ask @MW0KXN Kevin kindly, he will activate SW-030 for you to get the complete, before it’s taken off Gerald. It’s a local hill to Kevin
Well you are the one doing the hard work Kevin. I really need to fit in with you and the weather will have an input of course. Maybe a bit of notice as others would like to work the summit I’m sure. Maybe best if I get in touch via email to discuss.
