Some extremely speculative Alerts posted for summits/days/times in the next couple of weeks. The summits/days/times will undoubtedly be updated based on weather etc.
Allan @GW4VPX and I will be visiting GI with our XYLs. This is holiday 1st, with some SOTA thrown in.
Based in two locations, initially Ballycastle, Co Antrim; then Greencastle, Co Down.
My main aim is to add two new Associations - GI and EI.
Secondary aim is to add GI/MM-001 as the highest point in GI, to add to my high points of GW/G/GM/GD/GI/GU.
Be great to speak with some of you and even see you if you are local - send a PM.
Have a great time Gerald. If you have the time after Slieve Donard, Slieve Commedagh makes a nice pairing. It’s a pity to walk all that way from sea level and miss the opportunity . Newcastle offers plenty of shops and cafes for any non-walkers to while away the time until you return!
Divis GI/AH-004 has a nice little cafe at the bottom of the summit, you can also park in the car park and walk from there. This will be right up your street with the XYL’s! I do advise the hot chocolate enjoy your trip both @MW0WML@GW4VPX
There’s an EI/GI Meet/Activity weekend in the Mournes 6th/8th based out of Meelmore Lodge. Am sure a few S2S’s will happen but be great if you get a chance to call over and meet up
Well… we have dipped out with the weather forecast. Poor doesn’t do it justice!
So tomorrow (Tue 3rd Jun) we are going to try GI/AH-003 Slieveanorra and hope we are not blown away. As a result it’s very likely to be 2M only. I’ll carry the 857 and if it is dry enough we’ll use that. It might be very quick if we can get the 2M contacts to qualify. Alert is updated.
If (and it’s a very big if!) we can get some shelter we might try HF. We might also try a 2nd summit, but I think that is the optimist in me getting carried away.
