Unexpected brain failure - wrong summit reported

Hello All,

I activated W6/SN-032 and in error sent my position as W6/NS-032. I had no internet, and nothing but memory to work from. The altitude must have flipped the S and N in my mind. Sorry to the chasers that have the wrong information. See the table below. The good news, what with the AA contest in play, and my lack of being able to spot, I ended up working only 5 HF stations, listed below. I did set a personal record for VHF when I made a contact from my 11500 ft perch to Bend Oregon some 400+ miles from my 5 watt HT to a mobile station running 25 watts.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the update. It was great to work you S2S yesterday.

I wonder if people would get the reference correct if they were not allowed to claim the points for these kind of slip-ups?

It would be ironic if it then happened to you!

My tongue was firmly in my cheek when I wrote that. I have given the wrong reference once before. I thought Iā€™d be a bit more careful in future considering my position as Scottish AM.

Hence musing whether not allowing the points would make people a little more careful before the event rather than after.

And yes, it will happen to us all at least once.

Sorry for the complication Malcom. Great to have worked you.

It was not a brain failure, but lack of oxygen
