5w, Quansheng, slim-g at my end. Don was stronger, much stronger than the guys I worked in Glasgow. I also worked @GI4ONL Victor, who was very patient when I kept calling him GM4, because the signal was very weak.
Do we have any actual figures for the loss involved in using a PL259 as against an N connector? My experience suggests that it is very small on 2/70. Incidentally, my first 70cm setup back in the 60s used a Belling-Lee connector…it worked!
Don was consistently 59+++ on Sunday on 2m SSB with me using a flowerpot antenna. We had a few QSOs and his signal was always constantly loud. That path looks like it would be easy with even small beams and a few watts 24/7/365.
It was great to work you also Andy and you were up to 55 or more at times here. I’m just running with a Diamond X300 Vertical here because I took the beam down abot 14 months ago. Qth here is 650asl overlooking Cardigan Bay above the village of Aberporth. Condx have been good for me here on 144 SSB & FM to GM & the Hebs. I worked MM6OEC on the Isle of Lewis twice yesterday both on FM & SSB. Condx look good today as well on the Hepburn site.
