Precisely the problem with my vertical and mine is only for 20m and 17m. I too worked with a mis-matched antenna for a couple of QSOs. Maybe as the higher bands improve, there will be a need for a more complex design.
Well done on your activation Andy. I am pleased to see that I am not the only madman carrying 14kg around in the mountains!
