Please everyone join in to congratulate Thomas @DF7TR for reaching his first mountain goat today on Grosse Haube as final summit in a line of 4.
Welcome to the herd … bääähhh.
He is not only a hiker but also a rock climber so I guess we will see some interesting first activation in the future. He is doing phone but his heart is with CW dah-di-dah.
He is also very engaging and a great ambassador for ham radio not only at his teachings at the University but also when meeting others.
Hi Thomas,

Congratulations on this milestone Thomas @DF7TR and welcome to the herd I hope you continue to have fun, find joy, and stay healthy in all your activities.
Huge congratulations to you Tom! What an incredibly achievement It was so good to witness some of your goat QSOs on the 40m band yesterday, and it sounds like you had an enjoyable activation.
Not only an avid activator, but a dedicated chaser too! It was a pleasure to work you whilst I was visiting OE!
Keep up the good work & I look forward to working you S2S soon… and who knows, maybe even a joint-activation in the future
I remember very well when you, @DF7TR Thomas, joined our local SOTA presentation in February 2024 here in the local club U13 in Regensburg. DK1ZX and myself explained a bit on our activities. You were very interested in details, even after the end of the presentation.
I enjoyed very being part of your steep development and learning curve!
Looking forward to further contacts and conversations.
Hi Thomas, congrats on your success also here! You are one of the many great companions around here. Thanks for the many on- and offline contacts on various topics. Keep your curiosity, it will bring you to many good locations and opportunities – for SOTA and in your life. Always a safe return, and always a drive to go out again and again. Enjoy!
Vy 73, Markus
PS: I had to look out for pictures of your summit “Grosse Haube”. Beside these I’ve found a beautiful one depicting what a “grosse Haube” actually is: a large hood. You merit one now for SOTA. Maybe you will meet once a Wiedehopf (a hoopoe) outdoors. Or at least you can listen once to his “hu-hu-hu” sound.
I’m a little late to the party – we were away on holiday and travelling back home during the last few days.
It’s always a pleasure to meet you on the air, and I especially enjoy our many contacts on 2m, whether in CW or SSB, in contests or S2S. Knowing your skills both as a CW operator and in the mountains, I’m sure there are still plenty of interesting summits and adventures waiting for you – perhaps some of the more challenging kind.
Thanks for all the nice QSOs so far. I hope there will be many more, S2S or otherwise – and who knows, maybe we’ll even manage a proper hiking or climbing tour together one day!
Enjoy your well-deserved Goat, keep having fun with SOTA, and always have a safe return from the mountains.
