Thanks to EA7GV José.

On May 17th, I planned to be in Granada with a few hours to spare.
I spoke with José to ask him for a recommendation for a summit with easy and quick access. Not only did he point me to a summit, EA7/GR-030, but he also offered me the use of his equipment and antennas and drove me in his own car.
I would like to thank José for his support and kindness.
Unfortunately, the activation didn’t go as we would have hoped. A tremendous amount of HF QRN prevented us from receiving, and we only made a couple of CW QSOs.Apologies to those who called me but I couldn’t hear them.

Thanks to the colleagues near Granada and the 144 MHz band, I was able to save the activation and score 8 points.
Not just the QRM on HF. My Palm paddle also stopped working. Fortunately, I have a spare key. It definitely wasn’t my best day in a summit.
But the best part was meeting José in person. We’d met many times on the radio and we are in touch almost daily, chasing summits. José, thank you so much for everything.
And before saying goodbye there was time for a beer and a bit of conversation, but not much since I had to return to Granada and from there return to my QTH.

Gracias José habrá que repetirlo!!

I had the good fortune to be in Granada in February for a few days and it is a beautiful city, with the Unesco listed Alhambra and the snow covered Sierra Nevadas as the backdrop. Wonderful walks and tapas every night!

It was a family holiday and a tight schedule so no chance for reaching out to SOTA people. But I did think of Jose EA7GV who has chased me a number of times. Thanks for the chases Jose!

Granada is a very beautiful city with the Sierra Nevada in the background. It still had quite a bit of snow in May. If you have the chance to return to Spain, I recommend visiting my city, Toledo, which is also very beautiful, to me…even more so than Granada…
And if that’s the case, don’t hesitate to contact me.
This time in Granada I was lucky enough to be able to do a short SOTA activity, and thanks to EA7GV, it was much more enjoyable and funny.

Thanks for the welcome Alf, and I see we worked on 26 July 2023, 14MHz CW, when I was activating VK3/VC-040 Camels Hump.

Hope to work you again soon. 73!

Me too!!
