Thank you and .kml files for Google Earth

Thank you to the chasers who managed to contact me on ON/ON-021 today.

For those who use Google Earth, I added .kml files for each SOTA association on the page http://www.on6zq.be/w/index.php/SOTA/SOTA . When Google Earth is installed, just saving the .kml file and clicking on it will zoom to the region and show the summits.

I hope I am not re-inventing the wheel, but I did not find such files anywhere else yet.

Hi Christophe;

Many thanks for the contact today.

If you click on “Summits” on the Sotawatch2 page, click ON Summits, click on any of the individual ON summits, this will bring up an information page for that summit. Click on SOTA Maps on the information page and you will then see a Google map with all the ON summits on it.

Well, you can get KML files/Netlinks for all/any SOTA Associations/Regions/Summits in the SOTA Mapping Project (SMP) - GPX files for same as well. These are generated per user-request from the latest data held by the SMP, so are always up-to-date (data updated twice daily from SOTA db).

Just go to the SMP main page (http://sotamaps.wsstvc.org/) and click on the arrow in the Tools bar on the left-hand side of the page, and away you go.

You may well find these KML files to be rather more informative than others available online…
