Today was a special SOTA day for me. With this last summit at Gipuzkoa I reached the basic activator certificate of our new Basque Country Summits Award. I’m not the first one, as Alberto EA2DCA managed to send his lists past week, being “Basajaun” #1 certified. But that’s more than enough for me.
I also managed to make 4 more CW S2S QSO’s, including my first one with Guru EA2IF -thank you for nw one!- and also 2 NA QSO with N4EX (always there, thanks, Rich) and N1UN (tks also Marc)
And all this at a new summit, and under a pretty sun shining.
As we say at the Basque Country:
“I love Spring, it’s my favourite day of the year”.

In reply to EA2CW,
Thank you Mikel for answering my CQ call on 20m today and giving me the 4th S2S QSO for today’s activation of Mount Mortxe EA2/NV-073.
It was very nice to make QSO with you for the first time.
We were very lucky because just a few seconds after our QSO, my FT-817 switched off due to not getting enough power from the batteries.
I switched it on again and set output power to 1 watt but I didn’t get any more calls, so our S2S QSO today was the very last one for me from Mount Mortxe.
I wish you a happy father’s day!

In reply to EA2IF:
Same for you, aita Guru!
I have only a few years to enjoy being the first arriving to the summit, as my only son, Oier (9yo) is quickly growing, becoming stronger, and pushing me up to go to higher summits!! (he is always asking me for going to Hiru Erregen Mahaia!!!) I’m just too old (or at least this I think…) for this…
