Testing the new KT-005 automatic antenna tuner

After a few weeks of receiving the KT-005 and several tests at home, I thought it was time to test this great little antenna tuner in a “real” environment.
To do so, together with EA4IS Cesar, we went to Guadalajara to initially EA4/GU-005 and then later if we had enough time, from my QTH is 204 km to the start of the hike to Pico Ocejon, EA4/GU-050.

First of all, I want to apologize to those who called me on 20m and I didn’t hear from Pico Ocejon. I don’t know why, but my reception was poor, and the CW tones weren’t clear. Even so, I was able to record some QSOs on 20m. Thanks to everyone, and my apologies again. Something went wrong, and I don’t know what it could have been, since my transmit signal wasn’t too bad.
About the KT-005. It works as it should. The antenna I used for testing was a telescopic vertical antenna, and depending on the bands being used, a tuning coil with radials was used.
Without this coil, the KT-005 was able to tune on several bands without any major problems.
I’ll try to upload a photo of the antenna and another of the KT-005 from EA4/GU-050.
I’m sure someone will post a report with better technical details on the KT-005, but all I can say is that it’s an ideal companion for the QMX and other QRP gear. Maybe next time I’ll try it with my FT817 ND.
I’ll continue testing as soon as the heat in EA4 cools down a bit.
Thanks everyone.

Looks great. Expensive, though!

Yes…a little bit expensive…but do we deserve this like a birthday gift?
