Telescopic dipole

For friends of telescopic antennas at summits (I’m not one of them).

14 to 28 milli-hertz dipole? Must telescope out a looong way!

For what is a very simple antenna - that is VERY expensive - especially when bought on Ali Express!

Buy the two telescopic whips from other AliEx sellers and build the rest yourself, would be my advice to anyone considering this.

Yes, two 5m whips mounted horizontally on the red base (from the 1/4 wave gp) and you have the dipole. It requires a hope made piece to fit on a vertical mast though.

I always ask myself how people bring up such a dipole in a height suitable for doing contacts? Do they take a big tripod on the summit?

No, thanks! For my first few activations, I bought two 5m telescopic antennas with the intention of making a telescopic dipole. I made the mount, but the whole thing was so heavy that it could only be supported by a fairly sturdy tripod. I think I activated two or three times with that, and then abandoned the idea.

I understand that very well. I’ve had similar experiences.
