Summer time/Winter time clock changes

I’m sure everyone is aware but most of Europe switches from Summer Time to Winter Time early on Sunday October 25th. I’m not sure if there are other substantial population groups changing their clocks (Australasia et al) who would be switching to their Summer Time. Just remember it’s changing in Europe tomorrow.

What surprises me is that since the asylum inmates voted for the UK to leave the EU, we still change our clocks the same day as Europe. I’d expected to hear UK voices saying “no foreigners are telling us when to change our clocks, we’ll do it mid-week at noon.” But no, sense remains on this subject. It’s something to celebrate at least.

Changing at five o’clock is way better, that way you can have tea with scones and cream twice!

Annoyingly I do something most days that its clock is based on Pacific Daylight Time. So most Tuesdays at Noon PDT is 8pm my time and fit nicely with my schedule.

Unfortunately, twice a year, when the clock change, it goes out of sync for a week (sometimes 2) as in the USA the switch takes pace at a different weekend.

Even though it last for only a week, I find it harder to remember than remembering to record qso times in UTC for 6 months of the year.

In the Hitchikers guide to the galaxy, Slartibardfast was a member of the campaign for real time. I think we should have something similar

Well, they’ve done away with the leap second, so that’s something we no longer have to worry about in our logs

Don’t you record them in UTC for 12 months of the year?
