Does anyone know how to get rid of these strange signs? Typically this is when an e, a or o is in a name of a summit. see below as eg for CR and PE associations.

You lucky fellow. You can see the correct characters. All accents and other special characters like German umlaute are broken for me since several months:

See the old thread http://www.sotawatch.org/reflector.php?topic=8548 - as reported on Oct, 1st, 2013 since then all special characters are broken for me. Both in Firefox and Internet Explorer. I wonder how you manage to get a correct character coding?
same here, i used to see all Hungarian summits like they are written in hungarian, but now it is a mess…
It looks like our French friends have more luck.
Something strange is that I pasted the bad text into the edit window, after Christophe answered the test was right, all letters were ok with aksents…so not like you (Michael) entered it. Or I see ghosts…
umlaute are fine in both database and SOTA mapping tool. Also writing postings here in the reflector is fine. The only faulty part is the summits lists and pages here in SOTAWatch. You had a discussion with Martyn M1MAJ in the old thread http://www.sotawatch.org/reflector.php?topic=8548 about this issue. To my limited understanding the character coding while exchanging data between database and SOTAWatch was the problem.
I remember the conversation, but I wasn’t sure how much (if anything) had changed since then. It’s just one of those many awkward things in computers and programming which are often not so easy to fix.
